Everton boss urges Capello to check on Osman

Everton boss Dave Moyes has urged Fabio Capello to consider Leon Osman for an England call-up.

Moyes said: "I think as the new manager taking over the country you have a duty to see all the teams and form your own opinions.

"From what I've heard Capello has strong opinions and is single-minded. I'm sure he won't be led and will make his own decisions on what he sees."

Osman, 26, a graduate of an Everton academy which has nurtured Wayne Rooney, James Vaughan and Victor Anichebe, has scored five goals from midfield already this season, including the accomplished finish which levelled Wednesday's Carling Cup quarter-final against this afternoon's opponents West Ham.

Moyes said: "I've mentioned Leon for a while. I thought when England had a B international last year at Burnley that he could have been selected.

"Technically he's accomplished and he is hard working for the side.

"He's done superbly to come through the academy and go out on loan to get experience. He's one of our own and we enjoy having players come through the system."
