Everton boss David Moyes believes they have something special on their hands in Greek striker Apostolos Vellios.
The 19-year-old was snapped up virtually under the radar last January for a nominal fee from Iraklis Thessaloniki.
The teenager made the substitutes' bench against Wigan ahead of Louis Saha and he rewarded Moyes with a goal after replacing Seamus Coleman.
The Scot said: "He can finish from crosses, he's got the ability to get on the end of things.
"Technically he's really good for a big lad, he's very gifted. There's something to work with.
"It's the only way we can do it, to give some of these young boys a chance. There's the best of what we've got at the moment."
