Everton boss David Moyes is attempting to keep a lid on Louis Saha's contract speculation.
The Daily Express says rumours that Arsenal and Liverpool were among clubs monitoring Saha’s situation have reached fever pitch on Merseyside during the past fortnight with little obvious foundation.
Moyes was laid-back about the subject yesterday, but his demeanour could also be interpreted as a sign he has yet to be fully convinced Saha would be worth such a huge financial investment.
‚ÄúThere are things going on at the moment,‚ÄĚ said Moyes. ‚ÄúThe negotiations are on-going with the chairman and Louis‚Äôs representatives. It doesn‚Äôt need to be resolved right now because he is under contract until the end of the season. There‚Äôs no great rush.
‚ÄúIf he went abroad he can sign a pre-contract but he can‚Äôt in this country. I don‚Äôt see it being too big an issue.‚ÄĚ
