Everton boss Roberto Martinez is delighted to have a free summer this year.

Martinez has spoken at length about how a summer without a World Cup will help his side's preparations for the new season, and believes it will assist with their summer transfer business too.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "No tournament this summer does help. It will depend on the target, but obviously major tournaments always delay those sorts of situations.

"The value of the player in the market can be drastically changed by what happens in a major tournament. But now our business could happen in a much smoother manner, and we will try to do it as quickly as we can with some of our targets. Others we will try to bring in late because of the type of player that we need to bring in."
