Everton boss Sean Dyche hopes their latest points penalty will bring the club together.

Dyche and Everton meet Chelsea tonight after another two points penalty handed down.

He said: “We'll see. The clouds have been around this club for a long time now.

“It's your job to clamber for the noise, the fault and blame of it all. It's our job to go: 'Right, ok, we're all part of the process somewhere down the line.'

“I came in later but I'm still employed by Everton Football Club, we've all got part of it so therefore no fault and blame, what's done is done. It's about time we went: 'Right, bang, let's move forward.'

“The players have got to do that of course. I just think the plans can play their part because they've been terrific since I've been here.

“It's a rocky road for them, it's not an easy pathway. They keep turning up, they keep singing, they question us as well – that's fine, I've never had a problem with that and have total respect for that – and they travel everywhere."

The 52-year-old added: “I just wonder whether as a collective, whether we can show that grittiness of 'if you kick one of us, you're going to kick us all.' We've have a few kicks lately.

“I think it's time we went: 'Right, let's park everything else and let's all play our part in protecting the badge. Let's all play a part in protecting what the club stands for.

“We have to start it – make no mistake. I'm absolutely not questioning the fans to start it.

“I'm just saying the old Toffees, it's about time they went: 'Hang on a minute some of you young cats, let's educate you a bit on the past, it wasn't always billionaire glory, that's for sure.' Let's just get everyone on board and remind everyone of the truth of the club – a founder member of football (The only founder member of Football League in 1888 and Premier League in 1992 to be ever-presents in the latter) for goodness sake."
