Everton made a late move for Cagliari defender Davide Astori yesterday.

Astori's agents were in England in the afternoon attempting to find a Premier League move for the Italy international, says TMW.

Everton were keen and made an attempt to open talks with Cagliari over a fee for Astori.

But Cagliari president Massimo Cellino wasn't interested in doing business so late in the day.
