Wolverhampton's Benik Afobe says Everton star Ross Barkley isn't too 'big' to appear for England at this summer's U21 European Championships.
Toffees manager Roberto Martinez is unwilling to let the midfielder go to the championships, given the chance the injury-prone Barkley could suffer another setback.
Wolves striker Afobe, who will be on the plane to the Czech Republic himself after 27 goals in the Championship this season, said Barkley is able to manage both club and international football.
"Every single footballer in the whole world wants to play for their country, no matter what they say," Afobe said.
"Overall I think Ross would like to go with the U21s. He's never been too arrogant or big-time to think 'I've played here before, I'm with the seniors now, I don't want to go.
"He's never mentioned anything like that and he loves his football. So I'm sure if he does go, he's going to want to be a star performer and if he doesn't go, he's going to be ready to fight next season for Everton.
