Tottenham have edged past Lyon in the Europa League Round of 32 courtesy of a 1-1 draw in France tonight.
Mousa Dembele's 90th minute goal sent Spurs through to the Round of 16 after last week's 2-1 victory at White Hart Lane to enable a 3-2 aggregate win.
Maxime Gonalons had Lyon ahead in the 17th minute when he beat Brad Friedel from just outside the six-yard box from Clement Grenier's free-kick.
Spurs had a number of chances to get back in the contest as they trailed on the away goal rule despite the aggregate being 2-2. After the break, Gareth Bale was inches wide with a side-footed effort when unmarked, and also tested Remy Vercoutre following his sublime double last week.
But in the end, Dembele conjured the goal required to send Andre Villas-Boas' men through to set up a meeting with Inter Milan in the next phase.
The Belgian was able to beat Vercoutre after pushing clear of his marker before hitting a long-range effort to the advantage of the North Londoners.
