Slovenia striker Etien Velikonja wants to stay with Premier League new-boys Cardiff City.

He joined the Bluebirds on a four-year contract in July 2012.

Velikonja told Sportal: "My first goal is to be among the players who are in the squad for the Premier League.

"I'm working hard to succeed but I know that sometimes that is not enough.

"My status is likely to depend on arrivals, but I will not give up easily. I never have before and I never will.

"I know I am good enough so I will fight for my place. If I don't get a lot of opportunities then I will have to find another solution. However, I'm not thinking about that right now."
