English Championship clubs are discussing a European competition with their counterparts on the continent.
The Daily Mail says a meeting took place in Milan last week between representatives of second-tier football in England, Russia, Holland and Italy who have occasional summits to discuss common causes.
And the proposal for yet more European football involving clubs who don't compete in the Champions League or Europa League was tabled by the Italians, though no potential formats were discussed.
