England U21 boss Gareth Southgate was delighted to see his side go three points clear at the top of their qualifying group for Euro2017 after their win against Switzerland U21.
The Young Lions won their game 3-1 at Brighton on Monday night and their next test will be the return fixture against the Swiss in March.
"I think we're deservedly top, but there's a long way to go now," Southgate said.
"We play Switzerland again in March and they're a good side, a well-organised side and we had to show tremendous qualities tonight to beat them.
"There's a long way to go in this group, but it's good to be in control of it."
England fell behind when Shani Tarashaj struck on the stroke of half-time but responded with three goals in quick succession from James Ward-Prowse (Southampton) and substitutes Duncan Watmore (Sunderland) and Chuba Akpom (Wolves, on loan from Arsenal).
