England's Hodgson to take attacking approach into Uruguay clash

England boss Roy Hodgson insists his side will continue to look to attack Uruguay today as their World Cup campaign depends on it.

The Three Lions lost 2-1 to Italy in their Group D opener on June 14 and are now in need of producing a win over the Uruguayans if they are to keep their hopes of progressing to the Round of 16 alive.

Ahead of the Sao Paulo fixture with Uruguay, Hodgson has made it clear that attack will be the order of the day for the English who lacked a little bit of cutting edge in the final third against the Italians.

"We're not going to put any of our weapons down," said Hodgson.

"Any weapon we've got we are going to try to use.

"Against Italy we just set out to play the game we thought we wanted to play. We didn't say 'right, today we're going all-out attack'.

"We certainly won't be saying on Thursday 'we're going all-out defence', but it is very important at this level that you get both aspects right - that when we get the ball we use it, and we use the players we've got who can hurt the opposition."
