Glenn Hoddle's move to QPR is viewed as a stepping stone to the England job.
Scott Minto, who worked under Hoddle at Chelsea, believes the 56-year-old, who led England to the 1998 World Cup, should get the top job once again.
Minto told the Daily Express: "Without doubt, Roy Hodgson deserves another go, but my honest choice for the next England manager would be Glenn Hoddle.
"He has done it before, he knows exactly what to do and he works brilliantly with the best players. he will improve QPR and he would improve England as well.
"He's one of the best football brains that we have in England. It has been a real shame that we have not seen enough of Glenn Hoddle as a coach."
