England coach Roy Hodgson admits Arsenal attacker Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's injury was a World Cup "blow".
Hodgson rued Oxlade-Chamberlain's absence throughout the competition, especially in light of his fine display against Ecuador in Miami earlier this month.
"It was a blow," Hodgson told the London Evening Standard. "We've been fortunate to go through the tournament and the preparation with so few injuries.
"We thought that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain would be fit to take some part in the game tomorrow but he has had a slight recurrence of the knee problem and he will now not play any part.
"The other one is a hamstring injury to Leighton Baines which rules him out, too.
"Otherwise, we have been very fortunate - we lost a couple of players before we came who would have been serious contenders to be with us, however that's part and parcel of a World Cup squad.
"But Alex was very good against Ecuador, he looked in fine form and during the course of that game we were congratulating ourselves on having a player we thought could make an impact but we lost him in the game so it was a blow."
