England boss Steve McClaren says he'd have no hesitation playing Everton centre-half Joleon Lescott at left-back tonight in Ashley Cole's absence.

He said: "Lescott performed all of last season and some of this season, at left-back. I saw him playing there last week in Ukraine and he gave a very good performance.

"I spoke to Everton boss David Moyes and he said Lescott was one of the best English left-backs in the country and he really likes him. So we'd have no hesitation putting him in."
