Melbourne Victory midfielder Grant Brebner is confident the players will respond to Saturday night's 'embarrassing' 4-0 loss to the Central Coast Mariners.
The defeat was the Victory's equal-heaviest in their history and the fact it was on home turf makes it even worse but Brebner says the club will take positives out of such a poor performance.
"We're embarrassed by it, but personally the fact we've lost 4-0 will probably be a good thing for us," Brebner said.
"If you lose 1-0 we could probably sit and say `oh, we were a bit unlucky there'.
"The fact we've lost 4-0 and the manner we did, it's given us a kick up the backside and it's something we'll make sure doesn't happen again.
"This is the first time we've lost 4-0 at home. It was always going to happen at some point down the track and fortunately it's happened to us at this point," Brebner added.
The Victory, like all other A-League clubs, have a weekend off due to a FIFA international break this week so will have to wait until Saturday, November 21against the Brisbane Roar to redeem themselves.
