El Salvador's Umanzor on trial with Chicago Fire

With just weeks remaining until the 2010 MLS season kicks off, Chicago Fire are facing a position crisis as coach Carlos de los Cobos is still looking for a left-back.

Despite acquiring Krzysztof Krol on loan from Jagiellonia Bialystok, the Fire have El Salvador international Deris Umanzor with them and de los Cobos is expecting his pace to be a major plus for the Fire.

"He played very good against Houston but he went back to El Salvador and we're now trying to bring him back to us," the new Fire coach said.

"[Krol] has good qualities," de los Cobos said. "He's very strong but he's not fast. We need more speed for the wings. Normally teams have a lot of speed on the wings. And for that reason I think [Umanzor] can help us."

Umanzor was the main starting left-back for the El Salvador national team when de los Cobos was in charge in between 2006 and 2009.
