Steffen Effenberg says Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos should shelve plans of a Germany return.
Kroos retired from the national team last season, but is open to a return for next summer's Euros.
But Effenberg told t-online: "It would ruin what he has achieved already as a player.
"(But) from a sporting point of view, he would help the team immediately and provide stability. He has been performing at a very high level for years and continues to do so at Real Madrid.
"(But) if you miss a tournament like this at an advanced age, it may give you one or even two more seasons at your club."
