The signings of Gareth Edds and Mark Hughes from English clubs are positive ones for North Queensland Fury according to new coach Franz Straka.
29-year old Australian defender/midfielder Edds has signed a one-year deal joining from Tranmere Rovers and 23-year old defender Hughes has signed from Walsall where he was captain.
Straka believes the inclusions of players of such quality was a great sign for the Fury and the A-League as a whole.
"Both players bring to the squad experience from their time in English football and it is a strong message that we can bring these quality players to Fury in the prime of their careers," he said.
"Gareth gives us a lot of options as he is solid in defence or midfield and has also proven he can score important goals. He has enjoyed a good career in England and comes to us at the peak of his game.
"Mark is a quality young defender who impressed me with his leadership and maturity. His experience as captain of the Everton reserve team and development since made him a top priority for the club."
