Dyche takes aim at old Burnley board

Former Burnley boss Sean Dyche has had a crack at the club's previous board.

Dyche left his post in April after nearly a decade in charge at Turf Moor.

And Dyche has criticised the club's former board for not investing money into his team.

Speaking on the the Off The Hook podcast with Jimmy Bullard, Dyche said: "The ownership changed after the pandemic and that made it tough.

"During the build up to it getting sold the old board and chairman didn't want to put any money in and that is really tough. We are going into a season and we signed one player for £750,000 (Dale Stephens) and that was it, in a summer in the Premier League that is tiny.

"You go into the next season with the same players and you have to pull it out again, which we did. But it was always going to be tough.

"Burnley had lost fortunes so a starting point, even when we got in the Premier League, they were never going to put massive money in. It just wasn't going to happen.

"Then they got in front of the game by tens of millions and they didn't want to risk that because we have a safeguard. Then comes the chance of selling and they were not risking that either because we want to sell. And then they go and you are left in the middle going 'oh, okay, thanks.'"
