Dutch pundit Johan Derksen has dismissed criticism from Barcelona striker Memphis Depay in his latest pop track.
Memphis has taken aim at Derksen and his fellow pundits on Dutch TV in his new hip-hop song.
The Holland striker raps: "Because Veronica Inside is never outside. Trying to cut us down like we're wood."
Apart from football, Memphis also regards himself as a music artist and has enjoyed some chart success in his native Holland with past tracks. In his latest release, the striker hit back at the pundits of Veronica Inside, including Derksen.
Asked for a response, quoted by Voetbalzone, Derksen smiled: "Well, those guys have complete freedom... if that helps you. Those guys grow up with a lot of awe for those American rappers. Those are their real examples in life, also in terms of clothing and behavior. I think they look very good. Be proud of it.
"But they don't hurt anyone with it, let them rap."
One of Holland's most popular and controversial pundits, former Dutch defender Derksen played for the likes of Cmabuur and MVV Maastricht in Holland.
Depay joined Barca this past summer after coming off contract at Olympique Lyon. He has signed a contract with the Catalans to 2023. So far this season, the striker has been outstanding, scoring twice in five games. In a young team, Depay has quickly established himself as a senior leader inside the La Masia locker room and is proving a big hit with the Blaugrana support.
