Dundee Utd's Robertson to realise Scotland dream

Dundee United young gun Andrew Robertson is eagerly anticipating his potential international debut this week.

The 19-year old left-back has earned his first Scotland call-up ahead of Wednesday night's friendly with Poland and could quite possibly step out for the first time for his country in Warsaw.

Robertson, who was playing Scottish League Two with Queen's Park just last year, admits it will be a dream come true if he gets to don the Scotland shirt in front of friends and family.

"I did dream of playing for Scotland as a kid. Everyone wants to play for their country, though maybe I didn't expect it to happen this soon," he told the Daily Record.

"I'm delighted to have been called up and I'm looking forward to the experience.

"Six of my family are going, my mum, dad, brother, two uncles and an aunt. They don't want to miss out in case I do play a part in the game.

"If I don't they've not lost much but if I do play and they weren't there they wouldn't be happy. It won't matter to me if I just get on for five minutes at the end.

"I'm still only 19 with, hopefully, a long career ahead of me."
