Liverpool winger Stewart Downing is happy to be playing for manager Kenny Dalglish.

Dalglish cut short his spell on the club's pre-season tour of South East Asia to oversee Downing's signing and has been constant in his backing.

"Kenny paid a lot and worked hard to get me here," said Downing.

"Every time you play you want to do your best for him."
