Landon Donovan scored from the penalty spot as LA Galaxy notched up a third win in a row with a 1-0 result over Houston Dynamo at The Home Depot Center last night. Despite star midfielder David Beckham missing after attending former Manchester United teammate Gary Neville's testimonial in the UK, the Galaxy produced a winning performance to remain top of the Western Conference table.
Stoppage time of the first half is when the USA international converted from the spot after Dynamo defender Lovel Palmer was called for handball in the box. Donovan sent Tally Hall the wrong way to give his side the lead.
The advantage should have been doubled in the 74th minute when Mike Magee's long range effort skimmed the upright before Houston's Geoff Cameron lashed wide late in the piece as Bruce Arena's men marched on.
They have now won four games in their undefeated home run whilst the Dynamo, third in the East, have yet to win away from the Robertson Stadium.
