Doni pens new Atalanta contract

Atalanta hero Cristiano Doni has signed a new two-year contract.

The 35 year-old midfielder said: "I have never hidden the fact that I want to finish my career here.

"I have a very strong bond with Atalanta, with the city of Bergamo where I have lived for a long time and with the Nerazzurri fans. Therefore I am delighted to have prolonged my contract by another year. It is a great sign of respect from the club."

Atalanta director Alessandro Ruggeri - the son of ill President Ivan - also expressed his joy at Doni's decision.

"I am very happy that Cristiano will stay with us for another two years," he stated. "We all know how important Doni is to this group on the pitch and in the dressing room. Renewing his contract has brought great satisfaction to the club and to the fans."
