DONE DEAL: Salford sign ex-Man Utd striker James Wilson

Salford City have snapped up former Manchester United striker James Wilson.

Wilson has penned an 18-month deal with the League Two side - whose owners include United greats Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, David Beckham, Gary Neville, Nicky Butt and Phil Neville. They all have a 10 per cent stake in the club with majority owner Peter Lim having 40 per cent.

Wilson, who came through the academy ranks at United, joins from Aberdeen where he signed in the summer after a loan spell last season.

"I'm feeling very positive. I wasn't going to get the game-time at Aberdeen that I wanted or needed, so I think it was a good move for me to come in and try to play some football," he said.

"I want to get back to scoring goals, which I've not done for the past few years as prolifically as I would have wanted.

"Hopefully I can bring that to the team and I've grown in character in the last few years, so hopefully I can be a good person to have around the changing room."
