Real Madrid have signed PSG goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.

The Frenchman arrives in Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain on a year-long loan with Keylor Navas heading in the opposite direction.

Areola underwent his medical examinations on the weekend and arrives at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu to provide backup for Thibaut Courtois.

The 26-year-old is no stranger to LaLiga Santander, having defended Villarreal's goal in the 2015/16 season, playing 37 games and conceding 32 goals.

Those respectable numbers contributed to his return to PSG, where he has been playing for the last three seasons.
