Liverpool have clinched a deal for Brooks Lennon from MLS side Real Salt Lake.

The Liverpool Echo says the USA Under-18 international will join the club's academy in the hope of impressing and making the step up to Brendan Rodgers' first team.

The forward, who has been labelled the USA's hottest prospect, scored 31 goals for Real Salt Lake's academy side last season.

Lennon had a trial with Liverpool in January 2014 and they had been keeping an eye on his progress ever since.

He had also had similar spells at Aston Villa and Sporting Lisbon.
