DONE DEAL: Ex-Man Utd ace Wilson joins Port Vale after Salford release

Former Manchester United forward James Wilson has signed a two year contract with Port Vale.

The striker was playing for League Two side Salford City this past season.

Wilson, who is now 25, scored seven times for the team that is owned by several members of United's famous Class of 92'.

However, Salford missed out on promotion to League One, and Wilson will now try his luck at getting Port Vale to the third tier of English football.

Vale boss Darrell Clarke told the club's website: "I'm absolutely delighted that we have managed to bring in James.

"His pedigree is fantastic and I'm sure he will prove a great attacking threat for us next season.

"He scored seven league goals last season for Salford and played in a wide position in quite a few of those games.

"He certainly has the potential to score more goals when leading the line."
