DONE DEAL: Derby find cash to fund stunning Rooney swoop

Manchester United hero Wayne Rooney has agreed a move to Derby County.

The Daily Mail reports DC United striker Rooney's January move to Derby has been partially funded by gambling firm 32Red.

The Championship side confirmed on Tuesday the ex-Everton and Manchester United striker will be joining the club on a player-coach capacity for 18 months.

After the announcement of Rooney's move, the Rams revealed they signed a new club-record sponsorship deal with shirt sponsors 32Red.

It's understood the deal will cost around £100,000 a week and will be supported by commercial sponsors as Derby work to comply with financial fair play guidelines.

The average wage for Championship players is £20,000-a-week which is significantly less than Rooney's future salary.

Rooney will also wear the number 32 shirt, despite the number seven, 12, 13, 15 and 18 (the number he wore at his first spell at Everton) being vacant.
