Remi Garde talked himself out of the Newcastle United job earlier this year after asking about local "art galleries"!
The People says when his former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger told his one-time midfielder of the potential at Newcastle, things were looking good for the Frenchman to become an adopted Geordie.
That is until the former Lyon coach met up with the Newcastle deputation at a secret location in France in the middle of January.
A French source revealed: "The Newcastle people were trying to find out what Remi's plans and ambitions were if he took over the hot-seat at St James' Park.
"But in the middle of all this, Remi suddenly asked them: 'Are there any art galleries in Newcastle?'.
"Now I suppose the people at Newcastle United are not against a little bit of culture, but talk about art galleries really threw them."
