A dithering Real Madrid allowed Barcelona's latest whizkid Sandro Ramirez to slip through their hands, it has been revealed.
In 2009, while starring for Las Palmas' youth team, Sandro attracted an approach from Real.
At the time, he was averaging two goals a game and he and his family met with Real officials to discuss a move to Madrid. But the offer was poor and left the Ramirez family unimpressed, reports Sport.
Barca learned of Real's failed proposal and quickly stepped in with a firm offer and an impressive plan to develop his career at La Masia.
Sandro was convinced and at the end of that season he signed for Barca.
On Sunday, the youngster struck his first senior goal for Barca - and the winner - at Villarreal.
Similarly, in 2011, Real also had their hands on Sandro's young teammate Munir El Haddadi, but offered no place of residency at the club's training HQ.
And just like Sandro, Barca stepped in with a serious offer and were able to secure the striker for their youth team.
