Newcastle United striker Nile Ranger has missed out on a loan move to Sheffield Wednesday.

The Sunday Sun says Toon striker Ranger was wanted by Dave Jones earlier this month after a successful loan spell at Hillsborough last season, but the forward delayed a decision and the Owls grew frustrated before moving on to other targets.

And he's now suffered a knee injury which will keep him sidelined for a month.
