With the support of Portugal teammates Nani and Cristiano Ronaldo, the trio spent the evening in the same hotel room on Monday watching developments on television.
Nani and Ronaldo, reports Record, were convinced Coentrao would be moving to Old Trafford and there was a lot of backslapping and congratulations until the call came that the move had fallen through.
Shocked by developments, Coentrao broke down as the deadline fell and he was still a Real player.
