Distin pleased with new Everton deal

Everton defender Sylvain Distin is pleased with his new one-year deal.

Distin has made 115 appearances for the Toffees since joining from Portsmouth almost three years ago and was recently voted Players' Players of the Season.

"I don't need any boost to go into next season. I love my job and I know how lucky I am to do this kind of job," he told evertonfc.com.

"I want to carry on as long as I can. No matter what happens, you can be sure I'll be there the next day.

"It's a good squad here with a great atmosphere. I feel so comfortable with the lads, so it's a pleasure.

"Guys like (Leighton) Baines, (Marouane) Fellaini, (John) Heitinga, (Phil) Jagielka, (Tim) Howard - there's a lot of quality in this squad."

Distin added: "I am really happy it is done and I can go on holiday now and relax. I was always confident but you never know.

"Sometimes it can take a little longer than expected but it is done now and I am really happy to be staying for another season.

"From my side there was never any issue and I said from day one that I wanted to stay.

"The club also made me understand that they wanted me to stay.

"I want to go as long as possible. I think you'll have to kick me out!"
