Former AC Milan goalkeeper coach Nelson Dida is confident Mike Maignan will fight back from his calf injury.

Dida worked with Maignan last season.

The Brazilian said: "He will be stronger again. I spoke to him and his words were these.

"Now he has time to prepare well, so our little conversation has been about this, about the two injuries he has had. He can still improve and can still do a lot with the Milan shirt."

Dida also stated: "The first time he saw me, he hugged me. He told me about his goals and said: 'Look Nelson, I knew you were there and then I wanted to win with Milan, because Milan is an important team all over the world and I want to be able to wear this shirt and win'.

"These were his first words as soon as he saw me, so a character, an incredible personality."
