Angel di Maria is proving key to Manchester United landing Argentine pair Nicolas Otamendi and Enzo Perez. The Daily Express says United boss Louis van Gaal is a huge fan of Benfica star Perez, who he plans to deploy on the right-hand side of a 4-4-2 diamond formation.
Another player who could be on his way to Old Trafford in January is Valencia's Otamendi, who is also being followed by both Chelsea and Manchester City.
Both players will cost United almost £64million, with £23.5m needed to meet Perez's release clause and a further £40m required to land Otamendi.
And it's been revealed Di Maria has been linked with a move to PSG in recent weeks following some below-average performances, and United are keen to restore his confidence by bringing in some of his fellow countrymen.
The presence of Di Maria in the squad will also help Van Gaal convince Perez and Otamendi that their respective futures lie in England.
