Swindon boss Paolo Di Canio watched his side crash 2-0 at Macclesfield then declared he wants his players to become proud Chihuahuas. He said: "For some players if he has a Chihuahua character then I can't make a Chihuahua into a Rottweiler.
"I can make a shy Chihuahua become a proud Chichewa but it remains a Chihuahua.
"I can't make a Chihuahua into a Rottweiler so a few of my players at this moment are Chihuahuas away from home.
"I am not disrespecting the players - but I am Italian and I am talking about character."
Di Canio feels that midfielder Matt Ritchie was "too honest" in not falling to the ground under goalkeeper Jose Veiga's challenge.
"He lost his balance and you can't stay on your feet just because you want to be honest," he added.
"There are rules in football that even if he tried to stay on his feet then it is a red card and a penalty.
"That could have changed the game.
"This is a picture once again that shows we are not nasty enough to win away from home."
