Deschamps relief as Chelsea boss Tuchel allays fears over Kante injury

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has allayed fears over N'Golo Kante's fitness.

The France midfielder was a late withdrawal from Chelsea's crucial fixture against Leicester City on Tuesday.

But speaking after his side won 2-1 at Stamford Bridge, Tuchel said the decision not to play Kante was precautionary.

"N'Golo is not injured," Tuchel said. "He went out before the injury. He said he would get injured if he continued to play.

"We put out Kova that was a risk but it was the moment to take risk as it was a game of highest importance. I am happy it worked out. Hopefully NG will come back as we are a different team with him."

The news comes as a relief to both Chelsea and France.

Kante will be an automatic selection for the Champions League final on May 26, and will undoubtedly play a big role in France's quest to win Euro2020.
