Former Chelsea star Marcel Desailly believes the club will sorely miss the likes of captain John Terry, midfielder Ramires and defender Branislav Ivanovic in tomorrow night's Champions League final against Bayern Munich.
The trio - along with Raul Meireles - are all suspended for Europe club football's showpiece in Munich and the Frenchman has indicated they could struggle without the absentees but has given the Blues some hope in the one-off fixture.
"John Terry will be greatly missed. He is essential in defence. He is a brave captain who brings energy to his team-mates.
"The absence of Ramires, who has grown in importance in recent weeks, will also weigh heavily.
"Just like Branislav Ivanovic, who was a mainstay of the defence. But it's a final. Anything can happen in a final.""It is certain that these suspensions are a burden for coach Roberto Di Matteo," Desailly told L'Equipe. "It will be difficult for him.
