Derby County boss Steve McClaren is chasing FC Twente striker Luc Castaignos.
The 22 year-old former Inter Milan forward is on McClaren's radar for the January transfer window.
Castaignos has also been watched by Newcastle United chief scout Graham Carr in recent weeks.
However, McClaren hopes to use his ties with Twente to secure Castaignos to a loan deal in January with the view to signing him permanently should they win promotion.
McClaren has spent three years at FC Twente over two stints as manager.
