Derby County have cut short the loan stint of Blackburn Rovers striker Leon Best.
The Rams have sent the 28-year old back to Ewood Park, activating a cancellation clause, which has prematurely ended his season-long stay in Lancashire.
Of former Coventry City and Newcastle United forward Best, who made just three appearances for the promotion-chasers, Derby boss Steve McClaren told the club's official website: "We would like to wish Leon every success in the future.
"He has been very unfortunate because Chris Martin has been in great form and we have since added Darren Bent to the squad.
"Leon has given his all, worked incredibly hard, been a great professional and not been a single bit of trouble, but given his chances were going to be limited moving forwards we have decided to cancel his loan agreement."
