Derby County boss Steve McClaren won't consider taking the Newcastle United job this summer.
The Daily Mail says McClaren had been identified as the next boss at St James' Park and he was interested in the challenge - but the goings on over the last few days appear to have changed his mind about the sense in a move to Tyneside.
Newcastle approached intermediaries about the former England manager on Sunday in a bid to tempt him to move into the hot seat immediately, to replace John Carver at the helm, help them through the final three games of the Barclays Premier League and avoid relegation.
McClaren, having just missed out on the play-offs with Derby, on Saturday, rejected the offer but also started to cool on the idea of moving north in the summer and taking over at a club in such disarray.
