Billy Davies will sit in the Pride Park stands for Derby's clash against Portsmouth on Saturday.
The Rams boss has been handed a one-match touchline ban and fined £1000 for using insulting and/or abusive words towards a match official during the 1-0 win at Southend on 20th January.
The Scot has also been fined a further £750 and warned as to his future conduct after using insulting and/or abusive words towards a Southend steward.
It means Derby assistant manager David Kelly will lead out the side and run matters from the dugout, leaving Davies to communicate via a microphone link-up and mobile phone.
But Kelly does not envisage a problem, saying: "It's something we will have to cope with.
"But I've done it before when I was at Sheffield United with Neil (Warnock) when he was in the stands.
"These things happen in football. If these are the cards we are dealt with, then we will get on with it."
