Deportivo La Coruna are chasing Swansea City defender Chico Flores.
But WalesOnline says manager Garry Monk is ready to stand by Chico and give the 27-year-old the chance to start the season alongside skipper Ashley Williams, shelving plans to bring in a further centre-back.
Deportivo are on the hunt for a new centre-back and are thought to have made contact about a deal for Chico, while there have been suggestions ex-Swans chief Michael Laudrup, now in charge of Qatari champions Lekhwiya, has been considering an offer for the player he brought to South Wales.
