Fulham hero Clint Dempsey is confident of taking his stunning Premiership form into the World Cup with the USA.

Dempsey, 27, has just enjoyed his best season in the Premiership, banging in eight goals for the Cottagers, including a stunning winner in their Europa Cup upset of Juventus.

He said: "I'm the guy people now look at to step up in these big games. Hopefully I can do that.

"I like pressure and I like the responsibility to do that.

"My goals tally has gone up in three consecutive seasons in the Premier League so I'll take that confidence with me into this competition."
