Alessandro Del Piero played his first minutes for Sydney FC in an intra-club match on Wednesday.
The former Juventus and Italy great played 70 minutes at Allianz Stadium and managed to set up two goals for the Sky Blues' 'first XI' inside the first half-hour.
Head coach Ian Crook's first team 'probables' beat the 'possibles' 5-0 and he was delighted with the output of midfield star Brett Emerton as well as new signings Del Piero and Kruno Lovrek.
"It was good for Alessandro, Kruno and Emmo (Emerton) to get 70 minutes under their belts, Adam Griffiths was strong in defence coming back from a knock and we had a chance to play a full game with official referees at a good intensity," Crook said.
"I was happy with what I saw today and we'll continue to work hard ahead of the opening game of the season against Wellington.
"Alessandro and Kruno linked well with Mitch (Mallia), Joel (Chianese), Ali Abbas and (Yairo) Yau at different stages."
Terry Antonis scored twice for the winning team with Mallia, Chianese and Lovrek also on the scoresheet.
