Del Neri warning sparks new row between Buffon, Juventus

Silvano Martina isn't ready to condemn Juventus coach Luigi del Neri just yet over comments about his client Gigi Buffon. Following victory over Lazio, Del Neri fired a warning at Buffon that he was "not indispensable".

For many, the comments were seen as a the first steps in forcing out the goalkeeper.

But Martina told Telelombardia: "The claims were wrong by Del Neri, and certain statements seem pre-designed, even if I refuse to believe it.

"I know the honesty of Del Neri, but at this stage of recovery from injury he could have avoided certain words.

"Goalkeeper is the only role in which there must be hierarchy.

"In 2006 Buffon said 'Juve have given me so much and I owe them something', and so he stayed. And he reduced his salary.

"He's a serious guy, professional and Juventus are now insulting him."
