Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe is urging Dick Advocaat to stay as manager.
Defoe would love to see owner Ellis Short persuade Advocaat to remain at the club beyond this season when they sit down for talks next week.
Sunderland secured Premier League safety last night with their 0-0 draw against Arsenal.
"It would be nice if he could stay," said Defoe, "I think all the lads would like him to stay.
"But at the end of the day, it's down to him. It's his decision and we'll see what happens. But if he does stay, it will be good for the football club.
"It's been difficult to stay up, but it's good."
