Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe is convinced new manager Dick Advocaat is just what they needed.
Defoe was part of Sunderland's defeat at West Ham United.
"He's straight-forward and to the point. He has made it clear that if we are not willing to work for the team and get the fans back on our side, then we won't play.
"It's important we have a manager like that. If you look at the top managers in the world, Sir Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho, they are no-nonsense and they're winners.
"He is the kind of character we need.
"We've got to concentrate on ourselves and not look at what anyone else is doing.
"He will have the boys in over the (international) break training hard. He's got time to work with us and we're looking forward to that. New managers have different ideas."
